A Cupcakes and Crowns Birthday

What little girl wouldn’t want a pink package wrapped in a big gold bow hand delivered to their home by one of their best of friends?! Inside a pink fluffy princess dress just for her (the guest) with an invite to a very special birthday party. Claira Belle delivers jubilation for a super fun cupcakes and crowns 6th birthday party! The etched pink depression glass adds a bit of femininity and grace. From the late 20’s to 40’s this affordable glass wear brought lots of cheer and merriment! Thanks to Mrs. Doris for the sweet gesture of parting with them and giving them to Claira Belle to treasure and enjoy!! The vintage glass paired with these kid friendly and break resistant mint green plates and spoons help keep the party from feeling too stuffy. Thank you to fellow blogger A Bowl Full of Lemons for passing these little green treasures on to me!! I bought them from her twice a year FANTASTIC neighborhood tag sale. The vintage milkshake mixer was the very spark that lit the flame for this fun and festive party. I love the vintage look of this Zassenhaus timer and it served a great purpose to let the fair princesses know when their cupcakes were done.

Every guest had their own monogrammed apron to use at the party and to take home as a party favor. The girls were pretty tickled to find their initials embroidered on the front!!

I made the table out of a found old door and placed it on planters made from old tongue and groove boards. The patina on the planters is out of this world, mostly white and raw wood with just a bit of mint green. The chippy, old door has a piece of rectangular glass that adds to its charm. The girl’s chairs and tiny bench seat were found at a local antique shop in Mt. Pleasant, SC called Paige’s Thieves Market. They were the perfect size for these petite princesses!!

Well HAPPY BIRTHDAY, you little toothless wonder!!! You will always be MY SWEET in the purple glasses!

MIL (2).jpg

My MIL arguably the world’s best cook and baker. Teaching the princesses how to bake made from scratch cupcakes. I LOVE how captivated they are...Ha! She and my mother were the best of help!!

caketopper (2).jpg

These sweet little vintage cake toppers are from @polkadotrose an adorable online boutique. They were PERFECT!!! The pink princess stole my heart!!!

The hobnail milk glass cake plate is a very special keepsake that was my grandmother Vivian’s. We use it every birthday for Claira Belle.

Grandmother Vivian. My beautiful, classy and naturally red headed grandmother (although usually a platinum blonde with a GREAT bouffant) is in fact responsible for this CRAZY decorating gene that I have!! More on “VIV” at another time! Wait...hold the high hair...could this be where we women got the TOP KNOT?!?...Lawd, it’s the modern bouffont!!!) #southernhairdontcare #thebiggerthehairtheclosertoGod

These DRESSES were bought from a friend and fellow interior designer, Julianne Vadas. They are deliciously pink and gold filled with tulle and fluff...and fluff, AND JUST all sorts of little girl loveliness!!!

Julianne owned a children’s boutique in town that has sadly closed!! However, she is now the owner of The Hapamibits Company which is my go-to farmhouse style or really any style sign company. She is GREAT with custom orders and has a great eye for all things beautiful!! Thanks, Julianne!! You will see some of her work at a later time. Stay tuned!!

High tea served with popovers and strawberry butter (because well, it’s the south and we love our butter a bit more than our jam), fresh fruit and a petite cucumber to keep things fun, crustless and easy!

Remember when all we had to do was keep our ponytails straight and catch fireflies?

croquet (2).jpg

I LOVE that the girls decided to DITCH THE DRESSES for a little croquet. Would the queen approve?! Do they care?!!

Mirror mirror on the wall. Why are you growing up so quickly and becoming quite tall?!

HotAirBalloon.jpg

You can find this whimsy hot air balloon ornament at Anthropologie. This party favor joined the apron for a sweet gesture for the girls! I hope the girls can enjoy looking at the pink and green balloon in the years to come and reflect on a great day spent celebrating with their BFF and the nostalgia of a fun time.

A princess party wouldn’t be complete without a little girl and her doll. I used Claira Belle’s Gotz doll from Pottery Barn Kids and dressed her in the pink fairy doll outfit also from Pottery Barn Kids. The super detailed side of me believes all senses should be considered while planning any sort of occasion or event. For this party I used Barr-Co for a sweet, soft and gentle aroma. This original scent features a creamy blend of milk, oatmeal, vanilla and vetivier. I also LOVE the simplicity of their apothecary jar and its nod to vintage style. The pink and green pedestals are from Piazza Home a local design store in our sleepy town of Summerville, SC. They were the perfect size to display the candle, my grandmother Vivian’s milk glass flower vase and the girl’s little macaroons (OK, I may have had a couple...a few). The vintage tea cart was a found item from a tag sale. I’ve had it for years and it is literally falling apart. My husband has the distinct pleasure of rigging and securing the wheels when it comes in to play for an event! What a peach HE is!!!!
