Here's what I LOVE about Target
/
Yesterday was a real doozy of a day, YOU know what I mean. So, for a bit of stress relief, I decided I would make a Target run. Cue the bright lights and the “hit you in the face aroma of Starbucks.”
I dropped off Claira Belle at musical theatre at 5pm and with baby Beau in tow I was able to drive all the way across town to Target, pick out a HUGE chunk of FALL DECOR (gimme all the fall “pill-as.”) and some goldfish crackers at the check out counter because well, (ya gotta keep him quiet), then drive back across town and pick up CB by 6pm. I mean, in an hour! Target run for the win. They make it so easy.
Want to see what I found?
Adorable MINI suede pumpkins. Have you ever seen pumpkins so cute? Guess what?…they were $1! Shut. Up. I know, and they had LOTS of colors. I picked white, light grey and a blueish-greenish color. I sprinkled some around our home, on various tables, our fireplace mantle and THEN I went for the whole shebang and loaded them up in this wire basket. Love me some pumpkins.
Fall Stems and “Pill-as”.
One of my favorite pieces in my home is my gigantic faux floral arrangement. I bought the cement planter at a thrift store a few years back and it’s kind of amazing. It sits on my sofa back table and one side has a bit of (what looks like) black spray paint on it and it’s missing one handle. Those things have never bothered me. The character, sweet cherubs and charming rosettes mixed with it’s rich patina…intriguing. A creative stimulus. It says HEY, I’ve been around a while and I’ve seen some stuff. My old muse.
Year round I keep the white and green flowers in the planter and then I add in some seasonal sprigs when the occasion permits. On my Target run, I saw these adorable, Threshold Faux Pumpkin Stems and they HAD to come home with me! I love the sincere soft leaves and the greyish-green (can that be a word?) color of the dusty miller. The white pumkins are just-the-right amount of fall. Ahhh! I ALSO picked up a few of these, Hearth and Hand with Magnolia, Faux Ortata Fern Stems. I LOVE the delicate, tiny leaves. It kind of feels like clover when you run your fingers through it.
Next, I high tailed it over to the “pill-a” isle. We Southerners pronounce it “pill-a”...not pillow. WE never pronounce the “ow.” I’m not sure why. It can’t be for sake of time. We seem to drawww things out and we’ve obviously added a vowel - The “a.”
Pilllooowww. Nope, can’t do it.
Ok, I’m in the pill-a isle and I completely fill up my cart. Because well, Gimme all the fall decor. The fall colors are BEAUTIFUL this year! They seem a bit more rusty, not so HELLO pumpkin orange. However, if there is one thing that I may over do...it’s pillows. It always seems like the area needs “just one more pillow”. It drives my husband in-sane. “Just one more”, I say. When Beau Bleu came along, he came with a HOUSE FULL of goods. It had been seven years since we’d had a baby in the house (our daughter is 8) and BOY how quickly we’d forgotten. So, for the sake of NOT looking like HOARDER HAVEN, the pillows were the first to go. Call me crazy but now that some of the baby gear is dwindling it’s like I’ve been bitten by the straight up “pill-a” bug! So much so, that when my husband helped unload my car last night (what a gem) he looked at me solemn faced and said just two words. “Pillows. Really.”
How about you? Do you have a pillow addiction? How do you say “pill-a”? Are you over the HARVEST MOON about FALL?
